"Celebrating America's Health Centers: The Key to Healthier Communities" Whitney -- National Health Center Week 2017 kicks off next month! As the big week approaches, get your events on the map by posting events and celebrations on the National Health Center Week Website. Posting your events is just one step in preparation process, don't forget to publicize your events and celebrations with your local media and community calendar too. Use our media toolkit with templates for Letters to the Editor, Opinion Editorials and Press Releases to showcase the value of health centers and to get the word about your Health Center Week happenings. Let us say it again – now is the time to post your NHCW event plans so we can connect you with sponsorship, connect you with your Members of Congress, and give you much deserved credit across the Health Center network!
Now, is also the time to request NHCW proclamations and resolutions to highlight the role of health centers in your state, city and local community. Health Center Week is a time to celebrate! A proclamation or resolution from your Governor, Mayor, City Council, or other local governing body will only elevate exposure for your health center and bring more people to the celebration. You can access our NHCW 2017 Proclamation template on the Health Center Week website. Once you secure an official proclamation or resolution, be sure to send them our way so we can feature them on the NHCW website!
Getting the word out about NHCW should happen offline AND online. Social media is an easy and far-reaching way to spread the word about NHCW happenings and events. Join the conversation on social media using the hashtags #NHCW17 and #valueCHCs.Posts that include the official hashtags on Twitter and Facebook will be featured on the Health Center Advocacy Network's media pages and raise the visibility of your Health Center and celebrations nationally. We understand that social media is not familiar to everyone, so we have created some excellent social media tools, Facebook and Twitter promotional images and sample tweets and posts to assist you. Last year’s #NHCW16 hashtag received 35 million impressions on social media. We want to beat last year’s high water mark with #NHCW17 – help us set a new record this year! Get engaged on social media so we can exceed our goal.
This year, NHCW has expanded with a calendar of Focus Days that showcase the various services provided by community health centers for special populations. You are more than welcome to shape your events and celebrations around the NHCW Focus Days. Doing so is not required, but it will maximize the reach of NHCW across the country. The Focus Days are listed below – be sure to post all your events on the NHCW website:
For more information on NHCW Focus Days or activity and event ideas, visit the NHCW website. Are you planning to invite legislators to your NHCW event? Use our easy online form to extend an invitation to your member of Congress, state legislators, and local elected officials. NHCW falls during the August recess which is prime time to engage elected officials who are home looking for opportunities to engage their constituents. Once you send your invite, follow up with Congressional schedulers in the D.C. and in the districts for final confirmations. Once visits are confirmed for your events, post your event and make sure to email the Grassroots Advocacy Team.
