| Description
- Services The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department Primary Care Center provides comprehensive primary care services to residents of Fayette County, with special emphasis on a defined service area bordering the center. The Primary Care Center is a federally qualified health center. The Center is unique because it is housed in a public health department. This arrangement combines the strengths of continuity of medical care with the comprehensive public health activities to promote health and prevent illness and injuries. It permits patients to receive medical care services from physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, social workers, and others and it encourages prompt referral and consultation with public health nurses, health educators, nutritionists, and environmental health specialists. The community benefits from a broad based public health and clinical response to declared emergencies and related conditions.
