    Work Hours: 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week

    Organization Overview

    Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center (SCHC) is a 501(c)3 Federally Qualified Health Center located in the Shawnee Neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. SCHC seeks to transform the community by sharing the love of Christ in word and deed, to facilitate community development and holistic healthcare through the empowerment of the residents in the community.

    Position Summary

    The services of a physician licensed in the State of Kentucky to practice medicine will provide physician services for his/her office. The relationship between the physician and the PA/APRN (if one exists) will be consistent with Kentucky regulations for midlevel providers. The Clinic Physician works with other healthcare team members to provide quality patient-centered care in an integrated healthcare setting.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    - Provide patient services during time of facility operation as specified in policies and procedures.
    - Provide medical direction for the facility’s healthcare activities and consultation for, and medical supervision of, the clinical staff, in the absence of the CMO.
    - Provides primary medical care as evidenced by compliance with the following standards:
    a. Performs medical examinations, procedures and prescribes medications to patients as assigned or needed.
    b. Advises patients on health care education issues when needed;
    c. Effectively and efficiently completes all paperwork requirements for billing and medical records compliance.
    - Participate in quality improvement efforts.
    - Work cooperatively with the CMO in providing clear medical documentation.
    - Work with CMO to facilitate Primary Care Center facility regulations/policies.
    - Adhere to SCHC Statement of Faith.
    - Maintains professional and congenial attitude toward patients.
    - Coordinates with other provider’s programs that address the unmet healthcare needs of a clinical or educational nature.
    - Participate in community outreach events.
    - Meets professional behavior expectations as evidenced by compliance with the following standards:
    a. Meets attendance and punctuality requirements to ensure proper coverage and quality of service.
    b. Professional and appropriate dress as required by the position.
    c. Demonstrates an ability to resolve interpersonal and professional conflicts appropriately.
    d. Ability to formulate decisions and make judgements that are demanding and interpretative.
    e. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with the healthcare team members.
    f. Keeps all matters related to the organization, SCHC and patient, confidential in compliance with the confidentiality policy.
    g. Performs other duties and accepts other responsibilities as assigned.

    Job Qualifications and Requirements

    - Degree in Family Medicine from an accredited medical school.
    - Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Kentucky.
    - Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Meds/Peds.
    - Must have and maintain current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
    - Experience providing medical care, particularly with vulnerable and/or diverse population.
    - CPR Certificate.
    - Attend/complete CME annually as directed by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure.
    - Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
    - Ability to work efficiently in a clinical setting to meet productivity requirements.
    - Must embody the mission and vision of SCHC.
    - Must follow appropriate legal and ethical conduct.
    - Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
    - Must have the ability to exercise good judgement in appraising clinical situations and decisions.
    - Knowledge of community needs and initiatives and/or experience working in a community health setting or with low-income populations.

    Working Environment and Physical Requirements

    • Work is performed in SCHC clinics, school clinics, an office environment and community. Involves frequent contact with patients and community members. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
    • Work may require sitting or standing for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, and operate office equipment as necessary. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
    • Local travel required to attend meetings and trainings, visit other SCHC clinics, or attend community events.
    • Out-of-town travel may be necessary for conferences and other learning opportunities.
