Oral Health Innovation: Opportunity and Risk, Medicaid Waivers and Keys to Good Oral Health
Tuesday, March 20, 2018
1:00-2:00 PM Eastern
The need for continued focus on innovation to improve the care delivery and financing structure for oral health services is evident. Despite improvements in oral health access and outcomes over the past decade, many measures fall short of desired results. Oral health disparities persist, highlighting the need for innovative solutions to create a system of care that delivers oral health services in creative and equitable ways. Medicaid 1115 waivers offer one opportunity for oral health innovation, but can also present risks to access to care given the current political and health policy environment
will provide an overview of Medicaid 1115 waivers and describe how, when used as intended, they can foster positive oral health innovation. It will also describe the risks to oral health posed by work requirements–an alarming trend we are seeing around the country. Finally, this webinar will provide an overview of potential opportunities for broader oral health innovation outside the 1115 waiver mechanism and offer examples of innovative strategies oral health advocates are using to creatively improve the oral health of adults and children in their communities.
